| 失眠夜 突然間很想再看 <<生日快樂>> 和 <<心動>> ...... | | |
| Is my job secured? Upon the news of Lehman Brothers, Merrill and AIG, everyone seems getting nervous and panic ... (at least people around me, including myself). For the very first time, I start worrying about my job. Is my job secured, especially now i becoming a cost center? But besides worrying, what else I can do? Maybe just work harder and be a valuable asset to the company (rather than a cost burden) ........ I believe the indusry that I am in is already better than FS ones ....... Wish us all luck! Btw, despite the worry about my job security and the uncertain economic situation (with the certainty of going in declining trend though), I managed to enjoy myself with a movie -- "What happens in Vegas". A typical hollywood love comedy. No surprises, but fair option for evening relaxation. | | |
| Do you have joy in your life? <Just some little thoughts after watching "The Bucket List" ...> As the old wisdom has always told, it is always WE, ourselves, to decide whether we would live a happy life. But it's always easier said than done. Many people have been struggling to be happy; wearing sad faces all days; complaining how bad their lives are. Though I have not completely mastered the "skill to happiness", I would say it's really about your mentality and it's your choice. You choose to be happy? It's much more likely that you will be happy; and at least get recovered from unhappiness much quicker than others. So what could be the mentality / skills to happiness? As said, I am not the expert, here is just my two cents ...... - Open to the world around you -- people, environment, incidents, etc ... - Accept the fact that there are just things that you can't control / change -- control the things you can; accept / let go / work around the things you can't - Have faith in what you believe and go for it, though it may conflict with what the social norms tell you This can be a long list, but all in all, it's about how you view and live your life. I read one quote from the book <<The Last Lecture>> -- "You can't change the cards that the God gives you; so you should think about how to play a nice game with your cards." So ...... it's not to blame why you are given the bad cards, also not to think all days what if you are given better cards; and absolutely not to give up the games by playing it nasty or too casually as if you have a second chance. I am lucky that I have so many angels in my life who have been helping me to keep my heart and my mind open. Of course, I wish I can stay happy all days (though it is quite challening ) and be even happier, I am satisfied with the happy index I have right now. Wish you all a happy life! | | |
| What a nice long weekend! Finally got some rest during this mid-autumn long weekend. Though maybe too much food ...... Happy Saturday - Tea at 富聲: really love its 叉燒 and 牛雜煲 - Hea at Shatin New Town Plaza: as Mr. Lau is taking a course at CUHK, now I become a frequent-visitor of Shatin New Town Plaza. Luckily there are lots of shops and cafes Hope I won't shop too much, better be more disciplined (esp. there are some trips planning ahead, really have to save) - Great home-made dinner: Cher Mr. Lau again! Though very simple dishes, they were delicious. Maybe i am not qualified to say they are simple though .......... coz i can't make those myself Relaxing Mid-Autumn Sunday - Early movie at APM: My second time of watching Mamma Mia! It's a simple story, but a delighted one; plus the songs are really good, though the original cast from Musical are much better haha - Window-shopping Afternoon: Originally wanna buy the Canon G9 and portable hard drive; but finally get neither of them ... Still, enjoyed the window-shopping process! Spent some good time at 城邦書店-- I like this book store and it sells quite a lot of Taiwanese books! - Family home-made dinner: Another home-made dinner, but this was prepared by my parents. - Marjong night: Played Fujian-style marjong with Mr. Lau's family. I love Fujian style more, as i don't need to think and 做牌 Not saying that it's no-brainer game, but you can still enjoy if you are not really using your brains and lose less than Guangdong-style haha Resting Sunday
- Lunch at Sabatini: As a celebration lunch for Mr. Lau's passing CFA level 2, we had a great lunch buffet at Sabatini. Have heard many positive comments about Sabatini's lunch buffet, and when i tried it myself, it still deserved a "wow" The appetizers were great (esp. the parma ham + melon; don't ever know we can have ham this way); the main courses were wonderful (i took pan-fried duck liver, and mr. lau took the lamb chop. both are great ..... but the duck liver is really a killing piece -- with lots of cholesterol ); the wine was good; the desserts and other side dishes were yummy as well! To put it short, Sabatini could be an option if you are thinking about any birthday / anniversary / important date celebration with your SOs. And now ..... relaxing at home, looking back my wonderful long weekend! Next agneda item? It'll be a movie and reading night -- "The Bucket List" (Finally rented the vcd) and "The Undomestic Goddess" (Have read that once before, felt like reading that again recently ) Friends, hope you all enjoyed the long weekend!
| Happy Taipei Weekend Thanks to my dear friend -- Rita, I had a happy weekend in Taipei. No tourist-type sight seeing, but a really relaxing Taipei local weekend: Friday evening
- Delicious dinner at 寧夏夜市 -- 麻油腰花 + 麻油麵線 + 魯肉飯 - Relaxing TV-watching with QQ 青茶 -- 100+ TV channels at only NTD600/month ... Amazing! HKers, envy? Saturday
- Wonderful breakfast -- 乾麵 + 薑絲豬肉 + 白灼粉腸. Rita's mum was so nice to go out and buy breakfast for us; so we just stayed at home and ate! - Nice movie @ 美麗華 -- Mamma Mia. Both songs and story are good; sad that I didn't watch the musical when it was on in HK - Relaxing TV-watching afternoon with QQ 青茶 again -- Though typhoon went to HK, there was heavy rain in Taipei. So watching all sorts of Taiwanese entertaining shows .... btw, QQ 青茶 is my favorite drink in Taiwan! - Happy neighbourhood party -- delicious BBQ plus meeting nice Taiwanese - Exciting TV-watching -- Finally I can watch Taiwanese drama on TV (rather than youtube!!!), though it's re-played ... Thanks Rita for hosting me! I had a great time with you and your family, including the doggies!
Btw, for ladies who love Jill Stuart cosmetics, you should try its nail polish and lip gloss as well! They are great! You may wonder why I mention Jill Stuart in this post -- as they have counter in Taiwan, so I did quite some shopping there.
